Curriculum Updates:
Math:
- 3rd: Third grade students continue to work on comparing fractions. They are comparing fractions with number lines and with rectangles. We also welcomed Ms. Nancy for Math Through Art to do a project related to prime numbers. You will see this work on display at the Art and Music Night.
- 4th: Fourth graders have been working on creating line plots with fractions and using the data to answer questions about fractions. Fourth graders are also working on reading and writing decimals to tenths and hundredths.
Reading: We are focusing on learning about plot this week and how the plot of a story follows a mountain. We are using this graphic organizer to guide us in this work:
Writing: Students have crafted strong opinions on a topic they feel passionate about. They have also come up with reasons and examples to support their opinions. This week, we will start revising our essays by adding strong leads and topic sentences.

Sign Up Genius for 4th Grade Celebration:
- On June 7th, 4th graders will be heading to Mills Riverside Park for part of day. Please consider signing up to help with our 4th grade celebration and ice cream sundae bar. You can access the sign up here. Please get all items to school by June 7th. Thank you!
- Bike Unit May 13-May 24: we are very excited to have the Bike Smart trailer coming to UCS from May 13-24. Students will be biking in PE class. Please see this letter for more info, including volunteer opportunities! Bike Trailer Parent Letter

PenPal Visit: We will be meeting and visiting with our Pen Pals in person Tuesday, May 21st. A permission slip was sent home with your child this week. Please return this slip as soon as possible.
Sailing Field Trip: Please return the sailing field trip forms by May 17th. Our class will be visiting on

We are busy planning for end of the year events. There are many events that happen for 4th graders. Here are some of the events that are planned so far:
- Thursday, May 30: 4th Grade Track Meet at MMU track (Rain Date June 3rd)
- Friday, May 31: 4th Grade Move Up Day at BRMS (afternoon)
- Friday, June 7: 4th grade family celebration and fun day (Mills Riverside Park)

- 5/28: Rising 5th Grade Parent Orientation Night, 6:30 p.m.
