Writer's Workshop
Third grade writers have been learning how to add details to their writing and writing beginnings that hook their reader.
Next week we will be choosing a piece of writing to focus on revision and editing to become our final published piece of writing for our Narrative writing unit.

Reading
Third graders have been working on their reading stamina (uninterrupted reading for an extended period of time). During readers's workshop we have focused on reading books like gold, reading with expression, and sharing favorite books. This week we began learning how to give a summary of a book instead of a retelling. We will be practicing this skill throughout the year. As a class we practiced giving a summary of the book Click, Clack, Moo, Cows that Type. Ask your child to give you a summary of that well known story.

Math
This week we finished up Unit 1 which introduced multiplication and division. Our next unit is a quick unit on Data and Graphing. We will be using the skills we learn from our data unit for our Weather unit as we collect daily weather data.
