Happy Friday!

Plant Unit

This week we planted bean seeds.  We have learned that plants need soil, water, and sun.  We decided that we wanted to see what happens when a plant does not get one of their needs met.  Once our bean seeds sprout and grow a bit we will put our experiment to the test and record our observations! One plant will not get sunlight, one plant will not get water, another plant will be taken out of the soil.
We also read about seeds.  We learned that the bean seeds that we planted are made up of three parts: the seed coat, the food, and the baby plant.  Ask your child what each part of the bean seed does!  After we read about seeds, students dissected a bean seed and recorded their observations.

First we read about the parts of a seed

We worked with partners to make observations of real beans!
